Since the early eighties CERN IT has organized every year the CERN School of Computing (CSC), in one of the CERN Member States. CERN Schools of Computing, usually held in August/September, are open to postgraduate students and research workers with a few years of experience in elementary particle physics, in computing or in related fields.
Attendance ranges from 70 to 80 students, typically of 15 to 20 different nationalities. The schools last two weeks, and are generally organized on the campus of a university or in a hotel with close networking connections to a university or laboratory.
IT Department contribution to other schools CERN IT (EDG and EGEE project) contributes to the International School on Grid Computing, organized by the Global Grid Forum. The GGF Grid school 2003 took place in Vico Equense Italy.
